MAHMOOD Abdulqader bagged the grand prize of the Nasser bin Hamad Showjumping Championship, organised by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef), held at the Military Sports Federation Arena, Al Raffah.
The competition featured 135/145cm hurdles, and Abdulqader posted a time of 52.39 seconds in a faultless performance. Behind him was Haytham Al Bastaki, of the Ministry of Interior team, who completed the contest in 57.23s, while his teammate Mayoof Al Rumaihi came third in 61.14s.
The top three prize winners were presented trophies by Breef president Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and board members.
The championship featured three other competitions for senior athletes. Al Rumaihi won the first and second positions of the third contest, in which participants had to jump over 105/115cm hurdles. He also went on to top the podium in the fourth competition which included 115/125cm hurdles, while veteran Sami Ghazwan dominated the joker hurdle contest, winning it after clocking 53.68s with 65 points.
His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian works and youth affairs and Breef honorary president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated the winners and praised the thrilling showdowns witnessed throughout the championship.
