MOHAMMED Al Hashemi of Al Riffa stable won the private stables’ race, while Asem Abdulwahed triumphed in the open race for the Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, covering a distance of 120km in the Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Endurance Championship yesterday.
Organised at the Bahrain International Endurance Village by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian works and youth affairs and Breef honorary president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the championship took place amid wide participation.
Abdulwahed came first in the international race, clocking four hours, 22 minutes and 45 seconds followed by teammate Jaber Bader in 4:40:27, while Mohammed Abdulhameed Al Hashemi of the Victorious team finished third in 4:44:55.
In the private stables’ race, Al Hashemi’s time was enough to enable him to emerge as the winner, followed by Mohammed Al Suabei (04:55:55), while third place went to Maude Radelet of Alasayel Stable in 4:57:28.
Shaikh Nasser underlined that the prominent displays exhibited in the championship reflect that the Bahraini endurance is on the right path to accomplishing more achievements internationally.
He followed the race until the end, providing valuable tips to the riders as well as encouraging them to double their efforts. He then crowned the winners of the championship, which was sponsored by Bapco, Bahrain Jewellery Centre and Technogym.
