THE final race of the season, organised by the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club, witnessed exciting victories for the favourites with horses from Al Mohamediya Racing claiming three Cups at the club’s race track in Al Raffa, Sakhir, yesterday.
Al Mohamediya’s Royal Scimitar, ridden by Neil Callan, took the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) Cup, the eighth and final race yesterday, for imported horses with handicap over 1,600m, with Follow Suit and Modmin taking second and third places, respectively.
The seventh race for the Al Ayam Publishing Est Cup for imported horses with handicap over 1,200m straight was won by Speed Chance, owned by Husain Habib Aljaboori and ridden by Abdulla Faisal, followed by Assel and Alabrar in that order.
Al Mohamediya’s Kaasib, ridden by Callan, claimed the sixth race for the Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for class 3, 4 and maiden imported horses over 1,000m, with Deccan Warrior, also of Al Mohamediya, taking second place, followed by Runaholic.
The fifth race for the Al Ayam Publishing Est Cup for imported horses with handicap over 2,200m was claimed by Illuminated, owned by MKAR Racing and ridden by Ebrahim Nader, followed by Fourth Time Lucky and Super Chef in that order.
Mugheerah, owned by Al Nayefaat and ridden by Salem Alajmi, raced to victory in the fourth race for the Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for locally bred horses with handicap over 2,400m, with Jadlah taking second place followed by Lahoug.
The third race for locally bred horses with handicap over 1,800m was won by Atlasy, owned by Sayed Jawad Marzooq and ridden by Adnan Jaffar, with Mishaweer and Brilliant Angel finishing second and third, respectively.
Al Mohamediya’s hat-trick was completed by Mudallal, again ridden by Callan, winning the second race for the Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup over 1,200m for locally bred graded class 1 horses, followed by Stylish and Khazzama in second and third places, respectively.
The opening race of the day for the Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup over 1,200m for class 3, 4 and maiden Waho horses was won by Al Saqlawy 1807, owned by Al Riffa and ridden by Abdulla Faisal, followed by Kuheilan Weld Umm Zorayr 1838 and Al Hamdany 1810 in that order.
