BAHRAIN Premier League champions Riffa drew 1-1 with Olympic Safi of Morocco in Morocco on Friday in the first knockout stage of the King Mohammed VI Cup, this season’s Arab Champions Cup.
It was a good result for Riffa as an away goal can prove crucial in the second-leg to be held on October 1 in Bahrain. Bahrain will also enjoy home advantage in the second-leg.
Riffa is now in control of the tie as a simple 0-0 draw will mean qualification to the last 16.
On the other hand, whoever wins the game will qualify and a 1-1 draw will take the match into overtime. Draws with two goals or more will favour Olympic Safi.
In the first-leg, the Moroccan team scored first but that joy was short lived as they scored an own goal to give Bahrain a clear edge.
Riffa is backed by KHK MMA and Brave Combat Federation.
