Celebrating a strong partnership...

Advertorial

Ambassador Boeckmann

German Ambassador to Bahrain Kai Boeckmann has issued the following message on the occasion of the Day of German Unity:

“On the 3rd of October 1990, 29 years ago, Germany was reunited.

“When I grew up, in a world and in a country divided by the Cold War, reunification seemed like an impossible dream.

“But thanks to the German people’s wish to live together in one state and thanks to Hungary and the former Czechoslovakia who let Germans travel from East to West in the summer of 1989, the Berlin wall was opened almost 30 years ago on 11th November, 1989.

“German reunification less than a year later would not have been possible without the support of Germany’s international partners and the trust they put in a united Germany in a united Europe.

“We are grateful for the many messages of congratulations we have received on this occasion.

“They are testimony to the strong and profound ties which link the Federal Republic of Germany and the Kingdom of Bahrain and the peoples of Germany and Bahrain.

“For more than 47 years of diplomatic relations, Germany and Bahrain are working together as partners.

“This partnership extends to many areas.

“In the United Nations, German and Bahraini diplomats are working side by side to address global challenges.

“In the economic field, Bahraini companies have recently increased their exports to Germany.

“German companies are investing and producing in Bahrain, supported by the Economic Development Board.

“They are offering job opportunities and training to Bahrainis, with the valuable support of Tamkeen.

“In the cultural field, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities has helped to bring outstanding artists from Germany to the Bahraini public.

“Next will be a concert of the German rock band ‘Treptow’ from Berlin in the Cultural Hall on 23rd of October in the framework of the 28th Bahrain International Music Festival, a perfect way to remember the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

“In the last year, we have opened new windows to the public – our Instagram account @germanyinbahrain has won almost 1,400 followers in less than a year.

“Since July of this year, our Twitter account @germanybahrain is a new window for information about Germany and Bahraini-German relations.

“I am very grateful for the continuous support extended to German-Bahraini relations by His Majesty King Hamad, by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

“Germany and Bahrain are linked by a strong partnership which is continuing to grow and to develop.”
