His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander, yesterday patronised a live ammunition exercise conducted by the BDF Royal Artillery.
He was received upon arrival at the site of the drill by BDF Commander-in-Chief Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
The King was accompanied by National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Royal Guard Special Force Commander Lieutenant Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He was also welcomed by Defence Minister General Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Dhiyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi as well as the Royal Tanks’ Commander and officers.
Royal Tanks’ Commander Major General Rashid bin Abdulla Al Nuaimi delivered a speech in which he welcomed the King.
He said the military show is the last phase of the final test to train all the Royal Artillery brigades. He added that the Royal Artillery implements the instructions of the BDF General Command and the directives of the Commander-in-Chief to enhance the performance of the personnel through intensifying the training.
He said the specialised units are trained and then examined centrally by the Royal Artillery College, under the supervision of the battalions’ commanders.
He pointed out that the spirit of competitiveness and creativity are fostered through contests aimed at enhancing the performance of the affiliates of the Royal Artillery.
The Royal Artillery Commander renewed loyalty to the Supreme Commander and pledged that the Royal Artillery’ affiliates will make every sacrifice to protect the kingdom, under the King’s leadership.
The King expressed pride in the outstanding level of the exercise, regarding the accuracy and skill of the participants, paying tribute to those in charge of the drill for their planning and implementation.
He also stressed the importance of such exercises in enhancing combat skills.
His Majesty reiterated that BDF will remain, as it has always been, the protective shield of the nation.
He was presented with a commemorative gift by the BDF Commander-in-Chief.
The King was also informed about a number of BDF weapons.
