MANAMA: His Majesty King Hamad has expressed Bahrain’s pride in its long-standing relations with China.
His Majesty was speaking while receiving at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi, who is currently on a visit to the kingdom.
Wang Yi conveyed to the King greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping as well as his wishes of further progress and prosperity to the people of Bahrain.
The King reviewed with the minister ways to bolster co-operation, particularly in investment, economic, trade and scientific fields, in addition to areas of bilateral co-ordination and joint action.
Investment
His Majesty underlined Bahrain’s pride in its solid relations with China, noting that the kingdom attaches special interest to those ties, and looks forward to enhancing co-operation at all levels, highlighting the promising investment opportunities provided by Bahrain across various vital sectors.
He noted that the two friendly countries’ ties have been based on strong foundations of mutual trust and respect, as well as co-operation across all fields.
His Majesty appreciated the important role played by China at the international level, lauding the Chinese expatriate community’s contributions to the kingdom’s economic growth.
He also expressed Bahrain’s appreciation for China’s interest in achieving security and stability in the Middle East.
Referring to the latest developments in the global spread of the coronavirus and efforts to contain its impact, the King praised the effective and fruitful co-operation between the two countries, especially regarding vaccination against Covid-19 and exchange of expertise.
His Majesty also discussed with the Chinese minister latest regional and global developments of mutual interest.
